1,5-Pentanediol (PDO) is a colorless liquid at room temperature (20°C). It is miscible in water and organic solvents. It is a bifunctional alcohol used in the synthesis of the following products:
- Resins, such as polyurethanes and polyesters
- Polyols, such as polyesters and polycarbonates
- Plasticizers
- Piperidine
